#CoronaDiaries – Unpaid Internship Edition! (video)

How many internships have been canceled for the summer of 2020? 1 million, 2 million, let’s just say, most have been canceled, which leaves college undergrads and so many 2020 graduates in a very hard predicament.

How to get experience when almost every organization is telling you they no longer have a budget for summer interns! Let’s talk about a very unpopular topic in this edition of the Corona Diaries:

What do you think, my friends? Would you be willing to bring on an unpaid intern this summer and give them some valuable experience? Let me know in the comments.

Corona Diaries – Tim’s new blue light glasses and are we really ready to Scan Temps of our Employees? (video)

Happy Monday!

I’ve been doing Corona Diaries vids on Friday but wanted to give it a shot on Monday and see how they would fair. Truth be told, any week I might be having shoulder surgery and I’m working through the bugs of video blogging because it’s going to be hard to type for a while, so The Project might be going full video for a few months!

Have a great week everyone! Also, I would love to hear how you like video ‘vlogs’ versus written blog posts. A part of me feels like I’m more aggressive in my writing versus my videos, I’m sure there is some sort of psychology to that! Anyway, hit me in the comments real quick and let me know what you think!

Zoom Bombs! Let’s have some fun!

Okay, if you’ve been working at home for the last month or so, you’re getting bored with video conferences with your team! You’ve also probably heard of some Zoom meetings getting “Zoom Bombed” by folks outside of your organization that figured out your public link and come in cause all kinds of havoc.

I want to Zoom Bomb your weekly team meeting! But not to cause havoc, but to just have some fun and talk shop!

Most of us set up weekly meetings with our teams. The same day, same time, same meeting link. It doesn’t have to be Zoom, could be Web-ex, Bluejeans, Google Hangout, Microsoft Teams, etc. The key being you have a normal meeting where you talk shop with your team.

I think it would be fun to drop in on some of your meetings and shake things up! So, let’s play! Here’s my promise to all those leaders out there that might have interest:

  1. I’ll be fully dressed.
  2. I’ll be as professional as I am on this blog. That means no porno images or hate language! I might bash the University of Michigan if you consider that hate language please don’t invite me! 😉
  3. We’ll have some fun and learn some things, and I’ll try to help you out.
  4. I will not tell you if I’m coming on or not!

Are you interested in having me Zoom Bomb your Team?

All you need to do is send me a quick email to sackett.tim@hrutech.com and let me know you have an interest. Give me the day, the time, and the link for your meeting. Also, tell me who’s on the call and what you guys usually get on the call for.

I mean what could go wrong!?!

Like, please don’t send me a link to your meeting and then decide to use that meeting to lay off your entire team! I mean, while I would have a great story to share, I’m not sure your team would really appreciate that! Or maybe they would, no judgment!

I hope to see a bunch of you by surprise over the next coming weeks!

#CoronaDiaries – Payroll Protection Loans & Blue Light Glasses! (video)

This week on the Corona Diaries I talk about my need for some blue light computer glasses and ask you for recommendations, and I give you some background and personal insight on the Payroll Protection Program loan through the SBA stimulus package. Enjoy!

Don’t forget – him me in the comments with your recommendations and experiences with the computer glasses!

#CoronaDiaries – Return to Work Protocols and Your MVPs! (video)

This week on the Corona Diaries I dig into what the heck it’s going to be like when we finally all come back to work, from our Work from Home sentences! At least for the extroverts who can’t wait to get back to work, or those parents who have been locked in with their crazy kids!

I also talk about the concept of those employees who contract and get better from COVID (should we call them “Covivors” – shout out to Mary Kaylor at SHRM as we were discussing what we might tag someone who is on the backside of the virus) and now have a special place in society.

Are you working on your RTW Protocols – if so, share a tip you’ve discovered while talking through this and strategizing at your organization in the comments below!

#CoronaDiaries – Stupid Facts about Tim and HR Tech Marketing! (video)

The weekly video series Corona Diaries is back and this week Tim talks stupid facts about himself and the good and bad of HR Tech Marketing during a pandemic crisis. It’s been a hot topic on the social channels this past week, with folks in both camps.

Camp 1 – we have products and services that can help organizations right now and we need to let them know, or just simply, the world hasn’t stopped and we need to sell this stuff to keep our employees employed.

Camp 2 – You’re all evil for spamming everyone in the middle of a once in a lifetime crisis!

Hit me in the comments – Should HR Tech companies be marketing their product right now today, or when is it appropriate for them to start again? Do you have a problem with this, or do you think it’s fine?

The Tim Sackett #CoronaDiaries – Work from Home Advice!

Hey gang! How are we all doing today!?! Since so much of the audience is impacted by COVID-19 I thought it would be a good time to talk shop and do some videos that I’m going to call the CoronaDiaries! I hope you enjoy – make sure to hit me up in the comments with your best advice, tips, and tricks for all of us working from home!

One additional tip: Don’t neglect your exercise and diet! For me, I’m a big workout at lunch person, so moving into a work from home situation totally throws me off my routine and I have to make sure I figure that out!
